Several jailed allies of ousted Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide are hoping that they will be freed following the election victory of his one time ally Rene Preval.

They include former Prime Minister Yvon Neptune and former Interior Minister Joycelim Preve, who are considered by some human rights groups to be political prisoners.

Mr. Preve says the group hopes the interim government, which he said jailed them for political reasons would have the decency to release them before Mr. Preval's inauguration as President.
